Meet the artist

Scott A. Patton (1964-)
“Capturing moments in time when light interacts with life and beautiful stories are made.”

The first signs of his gifting began to emerge at age seven and has continued for decades. Having the very best mentors, Patton has reached stunning levels of proficiency in visual story telling and illustration. His work is highly sought after by collectors world-wide.

Background

Scott Patton has one main objective with his art – it is to create inspiring and beautiful paintings that bring value to people and their spaces. Whether the genre is nautical, western, nature or figurative, Patton’s works evoke emotions and tell wonderful stories.

From an early age of around seven the passion and gifting began to emerge, even if it was only a teacher’s raised eyebrow at a funny sketch he did. Scott’s high school art teacher, Marvin Embree (pictured above), noticed that he put more effort into his projects than most. For many years after high school, however, his desire for artistic expression was nearly suffocated with competing ambitions and the calling was nothing more than a faint whisper. However, Patton’s education continued into his college years at the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University.

Never content to crank out vague, mundane works, he desires to impart a higher level of consciousness, with the ultimately goal bring out the best of the beholder. Moreover, Scott is content to paint a limited quantity works per year and this has a strong appeal for collectors.

Current Status

“Listing art shows, awards or formal education in order to increase sales is not consistent with my vision,” he explains. “That is for commerce. This career cannot be about money. This is about the Immortal speaking and us listening.” SA Patton lets his compositions speak on his behalf. Merely producing and selling paintings is not how he believes his gift will have the greatest impact. “It is the message; the story that the painting tells that is meant to impact the heart.”

“If many of my paintings do not bring the viewers closer to God, then my work has failed. If the viewers of my art are not smitten with a greater desire for the Divine, a greater sense of responsibility, a healthier perspective, a greater value for themselves and others; if they do not at least offer a glimpse of the Creator’s magnificent Being then I have not found my life’s work after all,” he explains. “I do not want my art to hang on the walls of smug, materialistic people who don’t desire to leave the world better than they found it. Other artists can create those works.”

Patton now resides in beautiful Sarasota Florida with his wife and two sons as a full-time artist where he is constantly pushing the boundaries of his knowledge and skills with experimentation and execution.
